AI balance (some people call it credits) pays for the AI features in your courses,
such as AI conversations and feedback on your work. If you run low, you can add more
yourself.

## Add AI balance

1. Open your avatar in the top-right corner and select **Profile**.
2. Select **AI usage**.
3. Under **Add AI balance**, choose a package. Or select **Custom** and enter
   any whole-euro amount from €5 to €100.
4. Select **Review purchase**, check the amount, then select **Continue to secure checkout**.
5. Pay on Stripe's secure page.

You return to **AI usage**, where you'll see the amount added to your balance. It can
take a few seconds to appear while we confirm the payment.

## How your balance is used

- Each paid course usually comes with its own AI balance, which only works in that
  course.
- Your personal top-up works across all your personal courses. We use it once a
  course's own balance runs out.
- Reading lessons, writing on your own and reviewing your saved work never use AI
  balance.
- There's no subscription and no automatic reload. You only pay when you top up.

**AI usage** also shows your available balance and your recent AI usage, so you can
see exactly what was used.

## Good to know

- Personal top-ups can't be used in Instructor course previews or for courses assigned
  by an organisation.
- AI balance isn't cash: it can't be withdrawn or transferred to someone else.
- Top-ups are available to personal accounts aged 16 or over in Ireland, Spain, the
  United States and Australia.

- **You don't see Add AI balance.** Top-ups aren't available for your account
  yet. [Contact support](/contact) and we'll help.
- **Checkout was cancelled.** No payment was taken. You can try again at any time.

Course checkout is available to eligible residents of Ireland, Spain, the United States and Australia. It remains unavailable to United Kingdom residents until the separate UK
commercial release. No automatic location-based currency conversion is offered.

Adults may buy if their account, residence and course meet the displayed requirements.
A person aged 16–17 additionally needs an
active guardian authorisation specifically for that purchase purpose. Guardian
approval does not allow a person under 18 to create, publish or sell courses.

If checkout says the market or account is unavailable, no new payment was taken.
A checkout restriction does not stop normal receipt delivery or fulfilment of existing

The legal operator for new contracts is **DISCENTIK LEARNING LIMITED**, registered

purchases keep their original supplier, accepted terms and rights. A company notice
does not itself transfer an earlier contract or replace its recorded operator.

## Buying before you have an account

Select **Buy now** and review the course before continuing. If you are signed out,
Discentik keeps the selected course and coupon in a local return link while you create
an account or sign in. Account creation does not charge you. After authentication you
return to the same purchase review, where the current course price, coupon and account
eligibility are checked again before Stripe Checkout opens.

After a verified payment, access is activated automatically and Stripe returns you to
a dedicated confirmation screen for that order. It prepares the receipt and shows
exactly what you bought; this is durable purchase information, not a temporary pop-up
notification. Receipt delivery and the downloadable purchase record do not require a
second confirmation from you. From there you can open the course or view your full
purchase history.

Select **Download receipt (PDF)** to save a PDF you can open in a PDF reader. Its
filename includes the purchased course and purchase date. The first page summarises
the purchase; subsequent pages retain the terms accepted with that order.

If confirmation takes longer than expected, use **Check again** on the confirmation
screen or **Refresh** in purchase history. Discentik checks the payment with Stripe
before showing the receipt; the return link alone is not proof of payment. Do not buy
the course again while a payment is being checked. If it remains unavailable, contact
support with the order or payment reference, not your card details.

Open **Profile → Purchase history** to review retained purchase confirmations,
amounts, discounts, refund status and cancellation records. It is a dedicated
Profile section, separate from **Records and requests**.

Do not share the return link when it contains a coupon intended for a particular
audience. The link is convenient context, not proof of entitlement and not a reserved
price; the server remains the authority for every promotion and purchase.

## Course promotions and coupons

When a course has a public sale, its list price is crossed out beside the current
promotional price. You can also enter a Discentik campaign coupon in the purchase review.
Public sales and coupons do not stack; Discentik applies the lower valid price and
records the list price, discount and amount charged in your purchase confirmation.
The purchase review shows this reminder only when you already applied one coupon and
then try another code. Applying a replacement code does not combine the two discounts.
A promotion applied to an existing Stripe Checkout session remains bound to that
session until it expires while the course purchase terms remain unchanged. Changing
the code or included AI balance requires a new checkout with the updated terms.

## Individual course guarantee

You can request a full refund for an individual course within 30 calendar days of successful payment. Support reviews requests, including substantial consumption and repeated refund abuse. Completing a course or using AI alone does not automatically disqualify your request.

If a full refund is approved, Discentik absorbs the cost of included AI already used. Your course access and unspent AI balance from that purchase are removed. A refund does not replenish other balances.

## Organisation purchases and personal top-ups

Organisation orders and AI top-ups are excluded from the voluntary individual-course guarantee. Contact support for case-by-case review. Personal AI top-ups are available to eligible accounts under their displayed terms.

After the verified payment update is processed, a partial refund reduces AI funding proportionally to the purchase's original allocation, based on the cumulative amount refunded. Already consumed AI usage remains recorded. Partial refunds do not automatically revoke access or seats; support must reconcile those separately.

## How long course access lasts

Course access continues while the course remains available and your account remains eligible. Completion does not end access. Content withdrawal, moderation or account restrictions may affect availability. We do not promise unconditional lifetime access.

## Request a refund

1. Open [Contact — refund request](/contact?topic=refund).
2. Include your order reference and describe the issue. Never include card details or passwords.
3. Support reviews the order and responds using the email address you provide.

Approved refunds are processed through the original payment method. Your payment provider determines when the refund appears; we do not promise a fixed bank-processing time.

Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected by these voluntary policies. Starting a course or using AI is not an automatic waiver of those rights.

Course access may have one canonical price in EUR, GBP, USD or AUD. Checkout is available
to eligible residents of Ireland, Spain, the United States and Australia. A paid course can also
include a finite AI balance to fund supported activities.

## Where to check prices

Course pages show the price, access and included AI balance before payment. The
same balance description is carried into Stripe Checkout and the stored purchase
confirmation. United Kingdom checkout remains unavailable until its separate
commercial release.

For personal purchases in the United States, select your billing state before
continuing to Stripe. This also applies to personal AI-balance top-ups. Use the
same state in your Stripe billing address; your country comes from your account's
eligibility details, not from this selector.

## How the amount is shown

Euro accounting shows AI balance in euros consistently across the course page,
checkout, purchase confirmation and account balance. The course price itself may use
another supported currency.

AI balance is a limited amount that funds supported AI features. A euro-denominated
balance is not cash, cannot be withdrawn or transferred, and is not a payment-account
balance. Confirmed AI usage is recorded separately from the available balance.

## Course and Organisation balances

A personal course purchase includes the AI balance advertised at checkout for that learner and course. An Organisation seat provides a separate balance for its assigned learner and course. These balances cannot fund other courses or another learner's work.

For new Organisation purchases, a seat can be reassigned before learning starts. Once learning starts it stays tied to that learner; removing and restoring access preserves the remaining balance and never refills it. Earlier orders retain their original terms. ## Buy more AI balance (credits)

To add AI balance to your personal account:

1. Open **Profile → AI usage**.
2. Choose a top-up package, or enter a custom one-time amount from €5 to €100 in whole euros.
3. Review the terms shown, then continue to Stripe Checkout to pay.

The balance appears in your account once the payment is confirmed. Top-ups are one-time
purchases with no automatic reload. They are available to eligible personal accounts aged 16
or over in Ireland, Spain, the United States and Australia. If the option is missing or
checkout is unavailable, contact support.

## Personal top-ups and Instructor work

Top-ups never fund Organisation assignments or Instructor workspaces.

Authoring, course generation and AI interactions in Test mode use the Instructor's eligible AI balance. They do not consume a learner's course balance. Monthly Instructor balances renew and expire according to the period shown.

## Usage

AI work reserves balance before it starts. Confirmed usage is charged against the relevant balance, and any unused reservation is released. Check your available balance and usage history for the recorded amounts. A request may remain pending while its outcome is reconciled.

Reading lessons, manual editing and reviewing saved work do not consume AI balance. AI usage limits still apply. Course completion does not refill the balance or end course access.

## Refunds

A full refund removes the unspent AI balance associated with that purchase and applicable access. Individual course refund requests have a 30-day voluntary window, subject to support review.
