Understand course access and content protection

Paid course content opens only for the account that purchased the course or received
an assignment. A course being visible in the public catalogue does not grant access
to its lessons. Membership of the same organisation also does not grant access by
itself; the organisation must assign a licence to you.

Open an authorised course

Sign in, open My Learning, and select the course. Discentik checks your current
purchase or assignment before starting or resuming the course. A direct link to the
standalone course player does not contain course data and cannot start a course.

If access was removed, the course was withdrawn, or you signed in with a different
account, the course will not load. Ask the purchaser or organisation owner to check
your assignment before contacting support.

How content is released

The player receives the approved course release associated with your learning run,
not an instructor's editable draft. It loads the module you are currently taking and
every module you have completed, so you can move back through earlier material. Later
modules expose only navigation metadata—module titles plus stage titles, types, order,
and estimated duration—and remain disabled until your saved progress reaches them.

Hidden evaluation instructions, rubrics, answer keys, and instructor prompts are not
included in the learner-facing course data. Private course media uses temporary links
that are issued only after access, learning-run ownership, and a released module are
checked. These links normally expire after ten minutes. A learner cannot browse the
underlying private video or resource storage directly, and a link for a later module
is not issued before that module is released.

After the course is completed, all modules remain available for practice. AI practice
continues to use the applicable course, purchased, personal, or organisation credit
balance. Practice attempts and saved revisions are labelled separately and cannot
replace the official result, completion date, or certificate evidence.

Ratings and written reviews follow the course they belong to. Reviews on a course
listed in the public catalogue are public. On a course that is not publicly listed —
for example an organisation's internal course — the ratings, review text, and the
identity of the reviewers are visible only to people who can already open that course
and to the people who run it. You can always see your own review.

AI access

AI activities require a short-lived session created from your authorised course run.
The session is tied to your account, course, release, and learning progress. Public
catalogue access or a standalone player link does not create an AI allowance. Course
access is checked again when an AI request is made, so removing an assignment or
withdrawing a course stops an existing session rather than waiting for it to expire.

Responsible use

These controls prevent unauthorised access and make bulk extraction harder. Like any
web learning service, Discentik cannot prevent an authorised learner from manually
copying or recording material that is legitimately displayed to them. Do not share,
republish, automate extraction of, or distribute course content unless the applicable
licence or course owner permits it.

Automated or implausibly rapid progression and repeated media-link requests may be
temporarily limited. Normal viewing, downloading an available worksheet, and resuming
a course are not affected by these safeguards.
